I'm a writer, researcher, musician and explorer with a passion for history, heritage, folklore, unusual places and the stories they leave behind.

My fascination with storytelling began at a young age, listening to my grandfather share local history, folklore and ghost stories. Since 2004, I've been exploring where documented history, local memory, legend and first hand experience meet.

Through Soul-O Xperience, I share those discoveries through articles, interviews, photography, video and original music, bringing readers with me as I explore the people, places and stories that continue to shape our world.

My Approach

Research the story. Explore the location. Experience it first hand. Tell the story.

Before visiting a location, I research its history, folklore and the people connected to it. Wherever possible, I speak with historians, guides, custodians, owners and local communities.

I believe there is no substitute for experiencing a place first hand. By combining research, interviews and personal experience, I aim to go beyond the familiar headline and explore the wider history, heritage and culture behind a location.

My Goal

My goal is to work alongside locations, custodians and decision makers to help promote history, heritage, folklore and cultural tourism.

Folklore, legends and reported experiences can be powerful ways to spark curiosity and encourage people to engage with the past. They can form part of the journey, but they are never the whole story. My focus is on helping people discover the history, heritage, culture and communities that make each place unique.

I work within the rules, standards and access requirements of the locations I visit, ensuring their stories are shared with professionalism and respect.
