This song is inspired by Washington Irving’s legend of Sleepy Hollow and the terrifying folklore of the Headless Horseman, a Hessian soldier said to have been decapitated by cannon fire and doomed to ride the Hollow in search of his missing head.
It follows the birth of the legend, the cursed landscape, Ichabod Crane’s encounter, and the chilling idea that the Horseman never stopped riding.
