When fear becomes holy, accusation can become law.
This song is inspired by the Salem witch trials of 1692, when accusations of witchcraft spread through colonial Massachusetts and fear overwhelmed reason.
It follows the accusations, confessions, spectral evidence, executions and eventual collapse of the trials, turning one of America’s darkest episodes into a warning about what can happen when panic is allowed to decide who is guilty.
