Behind the song
The river spirit beneath the surface.
This song is inspired by the Slavic folklore of the Rusalka, a female water spirit often linked to young women who drowned or died before their time. Said to haunt rivers, lakes and wetlands, she can appear beautiful and alluring, drawing the living closer with song before pulling them beneath the water. The song follows one drowned girl as she returns changed, learns to lure the living, and becomes the warning others learn to fear.
